We love to eat at Earth Fare because they have a fresh food bar, the best steak I have ever grilled, and a kids eat free night. Green Sage is also excellent; they have a gluten free menu and combucha on tap.
Our local groceries stores are awesome. We go to Ingles just down the street to get necessities and common foods; however, we go across the street from Ingles to Earth Fair. Earth Fair has a wide variety of healthy sustainable foods. Their mission statement is one to adopt for your kitchen. Everything you need to maintain you cars, houses, hobbies is rite in reach. Our family loves both the local YMCA and the private Racket Ball Club. They both have excellent activities for kids and adults.
We bought this property because of the yard, green trees, landscaping and the pond in back. Waking up in the morning and having a cup of coffee on the back patio is wonderful. Sitting and listening to the water feature on the side of house, watching the squirrels, and hearing the birds is like medicine for the heart. The main living area brings together the soothing elements of: wood, rock, water, and fire all in one room. Wow!
The Asheville area is like a diamond in the rough. You would not know that you are in the south. It is like the "Portland of the South". The people respect and enjoy a rich variety of life. Their is always something to do or see in down town Asheville. Local live mountain music, local art, and hiking. The Blue Ridge Parkway is just down the street which anyone can enjoy: hiking, cycling, rafting, and mountain climbing. Me and my kids have went walking there on Sunday mornings with the dog. Excellent time to talk because it is so quiet.
Another thing worth mentioning is that in the back of the yard their is a trail. This trail runs along the back yard of all the Brook Forest properties and along the pond. Me and the kids would walk this trail all the way to the end. At the end their is a natural water brook that the city has just landscaped; it is beautiful. Also, on the side of the house is a special tree. You will know which one it is. My son loved that tree and took care of it.
We love the local mountain music. Steve Martin has retired there and sometimes you can catch him out playing his banjo.
Of course we all enjoy different hobbies, but this area is excellent for year around out door hobbies. Many meteorologist retire hear because of the moderate climate. The local area offers great fish aquarium stores for people how have salt water tanks (their is a RO/DI machine in garage for making salt water). And a very unique authentic Okinawan Karate Dojo.
Our spacious neighborhood is great, the houses are all covered with green luscious leaves. The neighborhood association has a yearly winter dinner at a local restaurant. We all use email to stay in touch, inform each other of local community events, and help each other. What I love most are the hills, landscape, trees, and the pond in back which give a rich feeling of being private in nature. Take a hike in the back of the neighborhood on Christ Church property and find a hidden lake.
