"Seller Says"
What we love most about Waynesville, NC is the wonderful small town friendly atmosphere. Main Street is filled with wonderful one of a kind shops and boutiques that draw people of all backgrounds together. We still wave at one another on the street, take our hats off and stand silent for a funeral procession and believe in respect for one another.
Waynesville has stayed small yet kept pace with required change. We boast proudly of several wonderful culinary delights and the seasonal craft shows, fairs and festivals which bring thousands to our city. We love to indulge in the talents of the chefs at; The Chef's Table, Frog Leap's Public House and Bourbon Barrel Beef & Ale. Waynesville is experiencing a great influx of very talented and varied chefs. We also still love all the local favorites.
Grocery stores are plentiful and carry a wide range of culinary ingredients. We have four name brand markets and several smaller native 'Mom and Pop" stores. There are also several open air markets which sell fresh fruits and vegetables and you can also pick seasonal fruits and berries yourself if you are so inclined.
When we bought our property we were looking for a beautiful serene area with easy access to town and one that we did not need to be concerned with winter weather prohibiting us from leaving the house. We wanted views of the neighboring mountains and we wanted to experience the beautiful fall colors this part of the country is known for.
When we want to venture out from home a bit more, we head to Asheville and are able to experience multiple shopping ventures, Spa time at places such as the Grove Park Inn and of course the Biltmore house is one of our favorite tours to take.
A few other things I can mention are how much fun we have taking our convertible on the Blue Ridge Parkway and stopping at the Pisgah Inn for Breakfast and fantastic views! This area is also great for cycling and hiking is abundant. We also live only 5 miles from Cataloochee Ski Lodge where we can both ski in the winter and hike in the summer months.
We are able to enjoy many of our hobbies here such as mountain biking, gourmet cooking (as we are able to obtain great fresh ingredients) and walking around Lake Junaluska in the cool of the evening.
To reach our neighborhood you meander up the mountain side and as soon as you pass through the covered bridge you know you are home. Our neighborhood is beautifully landscaped and you can tell immediately that everyone cares for their home and community. We love to sit on our front porch and talk to the neighbors as they are walking their dogs or going to play tennis at the community tennis court. We have a community garden as well which everyone pitches in to help maintain.
We have been thrilled with our utility costs as they have been better than we expected and less than any other property we have owned in NC. We maintain a gas tank for our fireplace and utilize the Town of Maggie Valley for our sewer and trash maintenance. Electric is supplied by Haywood EMC.
