"Seller Says"
The things I love about Asheville are the restaurants, concerts, events, festivals, shopping, and the mountains. Asheville contains about three times what I would expect to find in a town this size. If you are looking for even more, Hendersonville is just as close, to the south.
Grocery stores are plentiful. You are never more than ten miles from an Ingles Market. They carry just about anything you can think of, including plenty of organic food. If you are looking for things you have never thought of, try Earth Fare. They have everything else.
We were drawn to the property by the hardwood floors, huge master bedroom and bath, trees, large yard, and mountain views. Check out the view from the 2nd master bedroom, and the living room windows.
The Asheville area is wonderful for the variety of things to do. In addition to the many things I've already mentioned, if you have a free afternoon, drive the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are many beautiful scenic overlooks and mountain trails. In the Nantahala area you will find a few places to go zip-lining, or whitewater rafting. There are also a number of places to go horseback riding, including Biltmore, with beautiful manicured trails.
A few other things I can mention are Bele Chere, a popular festival held yearly in Asheville with plenty of music and food, and a place called Sandy Bottom Trail Rides, where you can go horseback riding all day and stop to mine garnets in a cave along one of the trails. We have a bucket full.
If you like hiking, you will never run out of beautiful places to walk. We lived in this house for almost seven years, and haven't walked even half of the nearby trails. The Craggy Gardens and Pisgah trails are our favorites. Another thing I never thought we would get hooked on is gemstone mining. Usually, we would visit the garnet mine managed by Sandy Bottom Trail Rides, but we have also mined for emeralds, beryl, and black tourmaline.
Our neighborhood is great for anyone who loves nature, mountain views, and wildlife. Bird feeders will attract quite a variety of songbirds. You will also see turkeys from time to time, and the occasional deer. Very often, on nice days, we would walk up the road and back. It is a beautiful place to walk, with all the trees and flowering plants. There is no outlet, so the only traffic you will see is your neighbors, who will wave and possibly stop to chat.
Our utility costs were about average. You'll only pay for electric, through Progress Energy, because the house has its own well and septic. The well is deep enough that even during drought years, there was always plenty of water. If you choose to have your garbage picked up every week instead of stopping at the dump, Maybin's Garbage Service is very reasonable.
This home has beautiful hardwood floors and has an open floor plan.
