'Seller Says'
The thing I love most about the Bakersville, NC area is the rural setting and being surrounded by all of nature's beauty, being tucked away from the hustle and bustle of big cities, but having access to them within 30 minutes. There is something to be said for slowing down, taking life easy and enjoying your surroundings.
We enjoy going to Spruce Pine to have dinner at the several restaurants they have to offer as well as in Burnsville. One of our favorites is the Knife and Fork in Spruce Pine. They offer a farm to table dining experience and have won numerous awards.
Johnson City, TN is within 30 minutes and offers an abundance of restaurant choices. A nice day trip to have lunch or dinner in Asheville is enjoyed by all. Ingles grocery stores are within 30 minutes of Beech Creek. For those needing a Starbuck's fix, Ingles in Burnsville can accommodate. There are small grocery and convenience stores close by for staple items. In Johnson City, 30 minutes from Beech Creek, there numerous grocery stores and produce stands.
Medical care in Johnson City is wonderful. The Johnson City Medical Center is a level 1 trauma center and therefor equipped to handle any emergency. Speaking from personal experience, every physician in each specialty we have had experience with is superb.
When we bought the property, coming from the Georgia coast, we were immediately drawn to the beauty of the area, the temperate climate and lack of humidity.
The Bakersville area is still like a step back in time. It is rural, mostly undeveloped and creates a simple, easy way of life. We have that small town feel but can be to Interstate 26 heading East or West in 18 miles.
A few other things I can mention are the people that have lived in this area all of their life are the kindest, hardest working, most helpful people you will ever meet. We opened our hearts to them as they welcomed us to their area and have formed lasting relationships, which we value.
Lake Watauga in Butler, TN is one of the most beautiful lakes you will find. It is within 30-45 minutes of Beech Creek. There on the lake, pontoon boats are available to rent and fishing guides are available for hire. It is serene, quiet lake which is owned primarily by the Tennessee Valley Authority, therefor only 20% is owned by individuals. Banner Elk and Boone are available for winter snow activities. Dollywood and Pigeon Forge are within 2 hours as is Harrah's Casino in Cherokee. The Bristol Motor Speedway is within an hour for those racing fans. The Penland School of Crafts is located in Spruce Pine and is a world renowned art school. Subsequently, folks have stayed in the area and offer lessons in pottery, black smithing, glass blowing, fibers and other medium. Fly Fishing areas are abundant for those interested.
