Among the things I love about Asheville is the culture and the music. It is the home of bluegrass and gifted musicians are eager to strut their stuff in the multiple live music venues and pubs. It is the beer Capital of the East coast with numerous local breweries that serve up good beer with old world flavor and atmosphere. There is live theatre in abundance and many presentations seen only in major cities otherwise. Asheville is situated in the mountains with multiple access to the Blue Ridge Parkway! The natural beauty is everywhere.
The entire Asheville area is a collection of dining specialties with everything from small and unique one off local establishments to the exclusive and fabulous sought out by culinary aficionados. There are many special farm to table locations and of course the Biltmore Estate restaurants and Grove Park Hotel offering excellent food.
Ingles is a great local chain of supermarkets and almost on every block. Our local Ingles is only 2 miles away as is Walgreens and CVS. A ten minute drive away is Trader Joe's and Harris Teeter, with Earth Fare and Whole Foods Market not much further. Not to mention the Asheville local farmers market for an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables, canned local goods like jellies, fresh honey and vegetables from our area.
We were drawn to being in the country within a few minutes drive of downtown Asheville and all of it's amenities as well as the Blue Ridge Parkway and the fabulous views and trails in the mountains. We are blessed to be able to view abundant wildlife from our property. For a motorcyclist it is perfect - no matter which way you turn out of the subdivision the scenic mountainous roads start the adventure and go in every direction. There is no such thing as a wrong turn on a motorcycle in this area! Beauty abounds. We love the small town/country atmosphere and yet every need is met.
Asheville is not just a town or city - it is a mountain community that has something to offer for everyone. It has history, elegance, rugged beautiful mountains, culture, culinary delights for any pallet and the best Bluegrass you will find anywhere. It is a town that has found it's soul through the diversified culture of it's people.
If you are lucky enough to be in the mountains you are lucky enough! North Carolina has more than 500,000 miles of paved roads, second only to Texas in miles and second to none in beauty around every curve. Not only are the roads plentiful but they are beautifully maintained.
The wildlife in our area is abundant and a constant source of pleasure for us. We have summer birds, winter/snowbirds and everything in between. We are surrounded by national forests and National parks that support elk, deer, wild boar, bear not to mention all of the smaller creatures too numerous to name.
Our hobbies include snow skiing, motorcycling, hiking, sightseeing and history. So much of those can be done without leaving the area - outdoors when we feel like it and indoors with a quiet book or hobby or preparing for another educational journey to a new area or learning about where we live. The people and cultures represented here in the region are a story in their own right.
Our neighborhood is small in number and roomy in size. We have abundant wildlife and nature is the setting with all seasonal birds in winter & summer. The neighborhood layout is conducive to privacy and friendliness with minimal traffic. The views of the natural beauty and each season's specialty are prevalent. A mere 15 minute drive to the center of downtown Asheville without the traffic is an added bonus, therefore providing country living with city proximity.
