The things I love about our town is that it has an artsy, diverse and eclectic vibe. In addition, it is filled with some of the kindest people I have ever known. This town has a magnetic energy that you can only understand if you experience it firsthand, like during the Friday night drum circles held at Pack Square. It is so fun to be able to be a part of such a vibrant city and then drive 15 minutes west and be hidden away in our private, peaceful mountain retreat. 

We love to eat at the great local eateries such as Salsa's, the White DuckTupelo Honey and 151 Main, and Asheville Pizza and Brewery. Grocery stores, drug stores and home improvement stores are just a short drive away. In 2015 a large outlet mall with hundreds of stores will be coming to our area. 


When we bought this property we were drawn to how serene and peaceful it was, as well as the amazing views. Every season highlights a different part of nature and its natural beauty. 

The Asheville area has four distinct seasons, which are all beautiful in different ways. We also love being frequent visitors to the Biltmore House. We enjoy their winery, the gardens, their excellent restaurants, and their numerous bike and running trails. Visiting the Biltmore at Christmas is spectacular. Both the grounds and the house are lit up with thousands of lights and decorations. 

Other things that are wonderful about our area is being able to explore and camp out at the NC Arboretum, tubing down the French Broad River, exploring historic Hendersonville and riding bikes at the Bent Creek Recreation area.


A few other things that I can mention are blueberry picking in the summer, visiting the local Farmer's Market, exploring local attractions such as the WNC Nature Center, Craggy Gardens, Grandfather Mountain, Chimney Rock and the town of Cherokee. We are also only a few hours from Charlotte, Atlanta and Gatlinburg. We love going to the numerous arts and crafts festivals that are held throughout the year, such as LEAF, the LAFF Festival and the Apple Festival in Hendersonville. We are also in close proximity to UNC Asheville and the Asheville Airport. 


Of course we all like different things about living in our home that is nestled in the mountains. Some of us like being able to hike any time of the day, others of us like watching the beauty of the sun rising in the early morning hours, our children love the colorful hot air balloons that fly directly over our house and we all love being surrounded by nature. 


Our mountain neighborhood is great for campfires, making S'mores, grilling outdoors, hiking, exploring the woods and watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets from one of our three decks. We are also just minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Mount Pisgah.

The things I love about Asheville are the variety of things to see, do, eat, drink and visit. Asheville has many unique restaurants. There are local eateries with an Asheville style.  Sunset Ridge is located within minutes to Biltmore Park. 131 Main, Travinia Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, and Hickory Tavern are wonderful restaurants in Biltmore Park. Cold Stone Creamery and Ya Ya Yogurt are also located in Biltmore Park for a wonderful treat.

Many grocery stores are conveniently located near Sunset Ridge. Ingles, Earth Fare, and Publix are all located within 5 miles. 

When I first walked on the property, I was amazed at the view from the front porch. The sun sets are absolutely gorgeous. The winter view includes Lake Julian. The yard is landscaped with many defined areas that are full of lovely flowers. Rhododendron, azaleas, lily of the valley, trillium, a rose arbor and many other variety of perennials adorn the gardens. 

Asheville is a wonderful area to live. There are 4 definite seasons each with abundant colors. The temperature is just right, warm during the days of summer and cool at nights.

 When you are on 61 Mountain Site Lane, you feel like you are in your own little world, away from the hussle and bussle of the world. Sitting on your front porch, reading, or just watching the birds is a very relaxing place to be. 

We enjoy riding the the parkway, visiting the Biltmore House and volunteering at the local mission.

Black Mountain is a wonderful place to be whether you live here year round or come to a vacation home. It's quaint but has all the amenities one may want or need. It's small, with a friendly, hometown atmosphere. It's beautiful, with all the four-season variety you would expect from the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains. It's a get-away haven!

When I bought my property at Ridgecrest, I was attracted to the private, rural setting and scenic mountain views. Also, I loved all the wildlife in the area, frequently seeing deer, wild turkey, fox and the occasional bear. It was the perfect property for my dream mountain cabin--one day. 

I love the Western North Carolina mountains! 

I am graduate of Mars Hill University (MHU), just north of Asheville. A Ridgecrest location offers easy access not only to MHU but to several other local libraries, museums and university campuses. Christian conference centers in the area, such as the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove, are also a draw fro hundreds of pilgrims annually. 

No matter what your interests or hobbies may be, you can easily find them here year round. Theater, shopping, golf, hiking, skiing, museums, art galleries, Appalachian music and crafts, local festivals... it's all here. The local baseball team, the Asheville Tourists, provides low-cost, family-friendly entertainment, the historic Grove Park Inn is the perfect setting for a romantic get-away, and the Biltmore House draws thousands of tourists annually. There are so many things to do and enjoy in this area. You really must get out and explore them all!

 The Ridgecrest community lies just east of Black Mountain.
