The things I love about Asheville and it's surrounding areas is the entertainment and activities.There is an abundance of bluegrass/folk performances, concerts on The Biltmore Estate green (everything from rock to classical music) community theater, hiking and mountain biking along Blue Grass Trails, the Arboretum, which hosts local fauna, bonsai displays and a learning center for children. Tubing down the French Broad River is a fun way to cool off during summer days.
There is an abundance of shopping, including the Asheville Mall, Biltmore Village (for more exclusive shopping) and the new Asheville Outlet Mall. The River Arts District in Asheville, features original local artists. All that has been mentioned is 12 to 15 minutes from "The Farm". Drive further out, approximately 1 hour to private outdoor mineral baths, zip lining, Lake St. James for fishing or boating, and white water rafting.
The Vanderbilt Estate (Biltmore Village) is a wonderful place to treat guests to the "Old World" flavor of Asheville (12 minutes away). The Farmer's Market is approx 4-5 miles away and is a great source for home grown produce, plants and homemade crafts.
We enjoy evenings out. Our favorite restaurants include, White Duck Taco Shop (casual outdoor in the River Arts District), Pack's Tavern, (located in downtown Asheville), Corner Kitchen and The Cantina at Biltmore (both located in Biltmore Village, Tupelo Honey (2 locations, one in the city of Asheville the other located in West Asheville) and Sunny Point Cafe (also part of the River Arts District). For something a little more upscale, we enjoy Strada Italiano (downtown Asheville).
The location of our home is very convenient to CVS Pharmacy (open 24 hrs and 3 miles from the house), a brand new upscale Ingle's Grocery Store (3 miles), Bi- Lo Grocery and Home Depot (all within 3 miles). The new Asheville Outlet Mall is approximately 5 miles away. Within 3 miles of our home is the Buncombe County Sports Park where there are lots of soccer fields and several different walk paths. Underway, is the expansion of the park to include baseball fields, tennis courts and a 2 mile walk trail. For Medical visits, Mission hospital surrounding physician offices are within 15 minutes. 58 Bradshaw is conveniently located to all of the possible daily routines by a busy family, yet tucked in a very quiet and cozy neighborhood in the Biltmore Lake region of Asheville for the solitude we all cherish after a busy day.
We were drawn to this property for several reasons. The first is that it is in a gated community-that feeling of safety and security. The second is the home itself, and the location within the community. Having all 4 bedrooms ensuites on the main level is extremely convenient for both family and visiting guests. The home is a neutral colored cement hardie board siding and granite , located on a corner lot. Our neighbors to the left of us have purchased the lot between our homes, making it feel more open, yet affording us more privacy. Our corner lot also provides an added feeling of space because it extends our yard into the "common" area. The oversized 2 1/2 car garage with 101/2' ceilings and 27' depth can accommodate a small boat. Finally, the home is located on the pond side of the community, affording a lovely view and an easy walk from the back of our home to the water's edge. One more added note- our neighbors are all wonderful, caring people!
The Asheville area is quite different from other areas of North Carolina. It is close knit community located in the mountains, making summers cooler than cities further east. Winters are very mild and temperate. It is also very close to the Tennessee border where one can easily venture to Knoxville, Nashville, Gatlinburg and numerous other places of interest. East Coast beaches are approximately 4 hours away and Florida is an comfortable day drive to their beaches.
There are numerous activities for all ages to enjoy. So venture out, explore,and let your imagination run free! Scenic drives through the Pisgah National Forest and the Cherokee National Forest are simply lovely, especially in the fall.
Relaxing evening at home. A night out on the town, listening to live entertainment or taking in the theatre. Outdoor aerobic exercise includes enjoying the many mountain trails the area has to offer. Our neighborhood has a quiet country feel. There are approximately 19 homes with various households- 8 homes have families with young children, 4 homes are retired couples and the remainder are working couples with grown children. There are 2 lovely catch-and-release ponds stocked throughout the year. Neighbors enjoy grilling and quiet gatherings at the pond as well.
