"Seller Says"
The things I like about Waynesville, NC are the small town hassle free environment nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains, beautiful Lake Junaluska, nearby Asheville, NC, the agreeable climate and inexpensive property tax.
I like to eat at too many restaurants in Asheville to list. It's a food mecca. In Waynesville, Frogs Leap Public House and Boojum Brewing Company can be counted on for good food.
Asheville, only half an hour away, has excellent groceries, including Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Aldi, Publix, Harris Teeter, Fresh Market and many local vendors. Waynesville, Asheville and Sylva to the west have warm weather farmers' markets, and Waynesville has Ingles and rumors of a new Publix.
I was primarily drawn to the scenery and a house worth enhancing. This property affords an excellent unobstructed view of the mountains, unencumbered by other houses, although there are two adjacent ones. It is surrounded by woods but open and sunny, and it is very private and pastoral even though town is less than four miles away.
Nearby Asheville is one of the most popular cities in the country. I like the easy mobility, outstanding natural views, and stressless lifestyle of a smaller town like Waynesville, which is close enough to the city's conveniences but devoid of traffic and higher taxes. There are universities on either side of Waynesville and easy access to hiking trails and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Other things I can mention are Lake Junaluska, always open to the public for walking, boating, tennis and other sports. The Hart Theatre and Western Carolina University produce exceptionally good theatrical productions. Haywood Community College offers classes in adult education. There are no mosquitoes at my property but lots of birds.
Since I like hiking, I appreciate the fast, easy access to trails. I also like traditional music. This area is home ground to old time and blue grass musicians.
The neighborhood is great for sensational views, privacy, natural surroundings, wildlife, and close proximity to town.
Utility costs are reasonable. Duke Energy provides electricity; I buy propane from Edisto Gas.
