"Seller Says"
We enjoy that we are close to 5 unique towns - Asheville, Weaverville, Barnardsville, Mars Hill and Marshall. All are flavored with small town friendliness, country locals, and retired professionals. The pace in WNC is slow enough to get to know your neighbors well.
We love our neighborhood. We've met the most wonderful people since retiring here and at 75, I wasn't sure whether there would be really close friends again. Sure enough there are many in this neighborhood with lots of get togethers, also the mountain views are so serene and peaceful as a backdrop to the great people. Porch sitting is an accepted and practiced past time and the sunsets are amazingly colorful and inspiring.
Some of our favorite places to eat are Glass Onion, Crêperie & Cafe, Blue Mountain Pizza, Well Bred in Weaverville, Our "go to" is Stoney Knob Cafe...great food and owners. Stackhouse in Mars Hill...super for families. And then, of course, there are Asheville restaurants which are amazing. We were in Paris a several years ago, at out a lot, and decided we liked Asheville restaurants better!!
There are plenty of grocery stores and other shops. For your grocery needs there is Earth Fare for organics, and Ingles for basics. Fabulous yarn stores (Purl's Yarn Emporium & Knitting Diva). Great Goodwill store in Weaverville, a convenient Lowes, an amazing and Rheems Creek Nursery. Fun summer roadside stands on Barnardsville Hwy, marvelous library in Weaverville with super librarians.
Saturday breakfasts in Barnardsville with live music is a chuckle & yummy. The 4th of July parade in Barnardsville is hysterically "small town", but sweet and endearing, as are the national veteran ceremonies in Weaverville.
Many things drew us to this property. The view, the serenity, the ever changing and observable weather patterns, and most of all thinking "bigger thoughts", when looking at the mountains. The land is a registered Wildlife Habitat with a plethora of woodland denizens (flock of turkies, deer, squirrels, ground hog and the ruffed grouse, etal)
We have never lived in a town that was so inclusive of all types of people. In this day and age when hate seems so "in the news", its refreshing to find so much acceptance.
Our hobbies are knitting, gardening, cooking, crafts of all types, writing, and reading. For years we did Meals on Wheels and met the most wonderful local people. It was a privilege and honor to get to know these seniors and I encourage the new owners to participate. We took our grandchildren and they wrote essays for school about their inspiring visits.
